Want to sell more Life Insurance?  September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, so now is the perfect time to get started.  Here are 21 ways to sell life insurance next month!

  1. Send an email blast to your current clients reminding them about Life Insurance Awareness Month and offering a quick term quote.
  2. Offer to speak to a local group (Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Networking groups, etc.) about the importance of life insurance or common myths surrounding it.
  3. Do a Facebook LIVE video and talk about common misunderstandings around life insurance.  Share with your online friends and social networks!
  4. Pitch a local TV or Newspaper reporter a story about how life insurance made a difference for one of your clients.  Make sure they know it’s Awareness Month!  (Linked In is helpful for this if you don’t currently have any connections.)
  5. Run a Facebook Ad to local people about life insurance!  Offer a small incentive for getting a quote this month.
  6. Promote a contest for a gift card or prize.  To enter the contest?  Get a no-obligation life insurance quote!  Is there a local group you could team up with?
  7. Who is your ideal client? Figure out the person who needs life insurance the most (or fits your product the best!)  How old are they?  What is their health status?  What is their family situation?  Write a good profile so you know who you want to reach.
  8. Network with people who might be able to refer life insurance prospects to you – like accountants or financial planners.  Create a special referral reward offer just for them!
  9. Create a workshop for new parents about things they need for their growing family. Invite other speakers and give prizes for attendees.  Promote all over town!
  10. Run a monthly “Life Birthday” campaign all year long to create consistent life insurance leads.  (Use the campaigns in Life Sales Mastery here!)
  11. Where have your past life insurance clients come from? When you know what’s driving leads currently, you can do more of it!
  12. Keep it SIMPLE. Don’t give a prospect every possible option, nail down what they need the most and adjust from there.
  13. Run a campaign to all clients with a Homeowners policy and a Mortgagee for a “Mortgage Protection” term policy.  (Use the Life Sales Mastery campaign here!)
  14. Practice with your team! If they’re uncomfortable asking about life insurance, role play the conversation until they feel good about it.
  15. Teach your staff the big WHY behind selling life insurance. It’s not about commissions, it’s about protecting these families (especially their children!) Share personal stories with them.
  16. Make Life Insurance prominent in your office décor. Put up posters promoting it.  Make flyers and frame them at each desk.  Stick a small brightly colored flyer in all outgoing mail and staple to receipts.
  17. Staple a basic term quote to all new quotes or include with new home or auto policies.
  18. ASK clients about life insurance after each endorsement. “Do you currently have life insurance?”  Document the answer in your CRM or agency management system.  Create a follow up campaign based on their answers.
  19. Send a postcard to ALL your clients who are a good prospect and follow up with a phone call.
  20. Don’t just sell life insurance one month of the year. Make it part of your agency culture and a key focus all year long.
  21. Get excited! People can sense your passion and dedication.  If you truly believe in the product and the power behind it, it will show.  Remember that this works matters and makes a difference in people’s lives.

I hope these give you some solid ideas for promoting life insurance during September and all year long!  Remember to check out Life Sales Mastery for complete campaign materials including postcards, Facebook Ads, phone scripts, email templates, and more!
