Social Media For Insurance Tip – Use Lots of Photos!

I think one of the best things about being a local agency is your ability to build relationships in the community and with your clients.  And a great way to do this is with social media like Facebook.

Did you know that photos are the most popular and most viewed items on Facebook?  People love looking at pictures.  They create a stronger connection.  People look at a picture and feel like they know you better.  They’ll recognize you if they see you out somewhere.  (One more reason why you probably shouldn’t wear your workout clothes or old sweatpants to the grocery store.  You’re a “public figure” now. 😉  )

Photos also get the most “likes” and comments on Facebook.  Every time someone interacts with your page by clicking the like button or writing a comment, it shows up to their friends too.  This is an easy way to get noticed by people that aren’t currently your clients!

When we’ve talked about ways to get lots of new fans or how to use social media in your insurance agency, most of the time it all comes back to content.  Content is just a marketing word for what you post and talk about.

So if photos are the #1 content, then you should be using them!

Photo Ideas:

  • Front of the agency
  • Staff at their desk
  • Holiday photos
  • Fun events that you have a booth at
  • Photos around town – local restaurant, the park, etc.

If you’re on Pinterest, check out this pin for some great ideas of fun photos throughout the month including different holidays or seasonal items.  (It’s not insurance related, but still a great list to get your brain thinking of new ideas. )  And if you’re on Pinterest, make sure you are following the Mega Agency Marketing board here!
Get creative and have fun with it.  These don’t have to be high quality, professional photos either.  You can take great photos with just your iPhone and upload them directly to your Facebook fan page!  And if you’re not the type to remember, appoint a staff member who likes this sort of thing as the agency photographer.

This is an easy way to get noticed and get your agency name out to more people without needing to spend a lot of time or any money!
